The Wangs vs. the World by Jade Chang

I was attracted to the title of this book and the introduction on the back cover that I thought I wanted to give it a try even though I do not know the author previously. I expected a hilarious and relaxing read like A hundred-year-old man who climbed out the window and disappeared. It turned out not exactly.

I cannot say that this is not a good read as I was not bored at all while reading it. But then, there were quite a few times that I thought some weird plot is building up and while I was anticipating some surprises, the plot dies out with nothing much happened. The incorporation of the Chinese language here and there added difficulties as the positioning of them add distractions even though I understand the language. Overall, if you look for a good laugh this is not the choice of book. But if you are looking for a casual read with an unusual story with a twist, this might be the choice.
